This weekend I attended my friend Salvador Espinoza's exhibition where he showcased his series of photographs that features around the bus that travels to Riker's Island; the exhibition was titled Q100 after the MTA bus. It was a great night with music, poetry, and progressive conversations happening all around the room. Miles Hodges gave a special spoken word performance and discussed his involvement with this massive correctional facility that houses thousands of inmates. Salvador and I first met at my first gallery show and is a fellow photographer who I admire for his consistency, storytelling, and, black & white work. The show will be on view until January 15th at Qns Collective in Astoria, Queens.
I linked up with my friend Jennifer early on Thanksgiving morning and took a walk at the Long Island City pier in Queens. Afterwards we enjoyed a latte at a local coffee shop called Sweetleaf. I photographed her using my Canon 5D Mark iii + 85mm f/1.8 - a lens I have grown to love and has become a favorite!
